Ground Team Requirements
IAW CAPR 50-15

One of the most important groups of people in CAP are the ground teams. The primary duties of ground teams are:

  1. With or without air support, to locate and silence transmitting ELTs;
  2. With or without air support, to search for, and locate, missing, overdue, or crashed aircraft or missing persons;
  3. To stabilize victims until professional medical assistance is available;
  4. To secure accident scenes from unauthorized disturbance;
  5. To assist governmental agencies in other emergency situations.

Training and testing will occur in the following areas:

  • Basic Fire Fighting Techniques
  • Ground Rescue Techniques
  • Survival Techniques
  • Interviewing Techniques
  • Electronic Search Techniques
  • Ground Search Techniques
  • Land Navigation Techniques
  • Safety
